I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this…
From parents of kids who attend my workshops.
From spouses of women who attend my experiences.
From friends who want to come… but don’t.
From moms I meet on the soccer field who learn about what I do.
And it’s almost always some version of the same thing:
“I’m not creative.”
“I used to be creative.”
“I’m not artsy.”
“I can’t paint like you.”
“I can’t draw.”
Well first of all—let me just say this clearly:
I cannot draw. Okay? Facts.
The truth about “not being creative”
Here’s the deal:
I don’t actually believe that people aren’t creative.
I think people don’t invite enough space for creativity into their lives.
Because it is amazing what comes out of people when they give themselves:
-
space
-
time
-
rest
-
permission to play
-
and access to fun, unique art materials
This is where creativity starts to emerge.
What happens when you give yourself space to create
I’ve seen it over and over again.
When you remove constraints…
When you don’t overload people with rules…
When you let them tap into whatever is behind that desire to rest and create…
And when you include some really amazing and unique people in the room…
What comes out of them is incredible.
Pieces that are layered, expressive, and completely unique.
Each one a work of art in its own way.
And the best part?
Watching someone look at what they created and say:
“Oh my gosh… I made that.”
“I didn’t know I could do that.”
That right there—that’s what creativity is all about.
You don’t need to be an artist to attend an art retreat
And honestly?
It doesn’t take a ton of direction.
Okay… it takes some direction.
But one of my superpowers is creating a space where your creativity can actually come out of you—and where you feel comfortable letting that happen.
I always tell people:
If you’re looking for an instructor who’s going to teach you how to paint a perfect boat on a beach or a flamingo standing in the water…
That is not me.
But—
If you want someone who will create an environment where your creativity can shine…
If you want:
-
loose, guided structure
-
thoughtful prompts
-
support using art materials
-
and the freedom to explore
That’s exactly what I offer.
I create the atmosphere for the magic to happen.
The moment everything shifts
Because when you look at the pieces people create, you wouldn’t be able to tell who walked in saying, “I’m not creative.”
But trust me… those pieces?
Oh, they’re in the mix.
I’ve even included some of them here.
That’s what happens when you allow yourself to try.
A creative retreat for women who “aren’t creative”
So if you’ve been feeling that pull…
That curiosity…
That quiet little voice saying, “maybe I should go…”
Consider this your sign… and bring a friend—or don’t.
This is more than an art retreat. It’s a space for:
-
creative self-care
-
rest and reset
-
reconnecting with yourself
-
exploring creativity without pressure
You will be among friends.
Among women from all different backgrounds and experiences.
And I promise you this:
You’re going to surprise yourself.
You don’t have to be creative—you just have to be willing
And just as a reminder—
I didn’t even start painting until four and a half years ago.
I’ve always been creative, yes—but it showed up in different ways:
-
planning events
-
making scrapbooks
-
designing experiences
-
planning weddings
-
bringing people together
Painting didn’t come until I gave myself permission to try.
Ready to experience this for yourself?
So no—you don’t have to be creative.
You just have to be open.
✨ If this is speaking to you, I’d love for you to join us at the retreat.
